Hello Jon,
So there are many reasons why people are usually interested in consulting. Here are some, for example, there are interesting problems to solve, it is meaningful work, there is a very steep learning curve and one gets exposed to diverse industries as a consultant; moreover, usually consulting helps in career advancement and going up the ladder more quickly than other roles.

Hi Jon, 🙂

I am very interested in consulting because it seems like work is more dynamic than in doing more of a classic corporate job. I get very easily bored doing same tasks over and over again. But in consulting it seems like there are always different projects, working with different people or traveling to different towns. I also think people find consulting interesting because of considerably high salary. When it comes to business-related jobs, it is hard (from my basic google research - so do not take this statement very seriously) to get by certain level of salary. And from doing my research consultants, especially management consultants have very decent pay, especially after many years in business.

Also, I think people find consulting interesting because there are great exit options and there is a great amount you can learn while doing this job.

So to summarize, the biggest reasons for me are a very dynamic work environment and salary.

Hi Jon!

I haven't started working in consulting yet, but I would say for me consulting is a bit like a challenge. It's a challenge to get in, it's a challenge to remain in consulting and it's a challenge to learn more and get better every single day. I would love to push myself harder especially when I am still young and the work in consulting is very dynamic and requires a wide range of skills, so I think it's the best place to grow personally and also professionally.

Hi,

One of the major reasons that Consultancy is considered as promising, in my perspective is due to automation and technology. A lot of job roles have become extinct in the recent past but, Consultancy hardly so.

How much ever the world runs into automation you will always need Consultants from each area to help program it. Until programs like the Monte Carlo Simulator gets extremely aggressive along with technology like Artificial Intelligence, Consultancy sure does have a lot to offer in the future.

Many other aspects are factored in, e.g. from the start of the career (given that you start directly from Consultancy) you perform less data entry and more analysis and critical thinking. Even the data entry you follow is part of the analytical procedures.

Consultancy is very less monotonous. You don't get grounded in one industry, it exposes you to a wider scope.

I've been involved for just over a year. I have been exposed to the following industries in managing risk (more towards Finance and and Internal Controls); Constructions, Automobile, Agriculture, Plantations and Lubricants. Hopefully my next assignment will be on the Telecommunications Industry.

It's always new, challenging and you get to put your self through some serious tests and question your inner abilities and thresholds. You will always be updated on many things (Continuous Professional Development).

Given the right combination of Leadership, Teamwork and a good Personality, Consultancy is definitely an exciting path to consider.

Once the assignment is complete, all the advices and recommendations your team provided has been implemented by the client and you witnesses the organisation succeed, grow and become stronger, the Personal Satisfaction you feel is priceless.
