Hello everyone.

I am a first year BBA student studying at KU Leuven,Belgium. My plan is to pursue MiM after BBA and get into consulting field.
But I am confused what skills do I need to develop in order to be a management consultant.
Specifically, I would like to know if maths(if so to which degree) and technical skills such as data analyzing with Python,R are required for this role?

Thanks in advance.

As a BBA student, you need to master Microsoft office which includes PPT, excel, word and outlook for your communication and analysis with and for clients.

If you can learn  Microsoft visio as well, it may come handy on a few clients requiring you to draft their process flows etc for demonstration.

Python as a course is more widely used in roles involving finance than consulting.  On the other hand, understanding SAP maybe more beneficial. However, knowledge of both will do no harm and leave your options open for the future.

Regards,

Tushna

I agree with Tushana, Excel above everything else. If you then want a more technical data science track, you can check R or Python.

Hey Khant,

Honestly it will depend on which type of consulting you are aiming for. If you are going as a Data Scientist then yes you will definitely require Python and R, dealing with large variable sets, creating models and running regression models.

But above everything Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint will be your bread and butter.

Thanks,

Chet
