Hey,

so I am currently graduating from my university (last semester) and I really want to enter the consulting industry, I think it just has so much potential in the future and the job is very interesting and has this strong connection to other people.

What do I have to take care of when I apply to consultancies like BCG or some other big firms?

One of the biggest things I share with my undergrads (and grad students) who want to go into consulting is that they really need to bone up on their business analytics skills. It's an attractive field that has lots of draw. But the mistake that too many young professionals think is that they're going to be telling CEOs and organizational decision-makers how to run their business. The reality is that you'll be part of a team that will be making suggestions that will ultimately help in the running of the business, but you'll start out by running mathematical/statistical analyses for various scenarios. That's where you can show them what you're worth, and it's the grounding from which you'll eventually forge ahead to headline the projects. So, if your undergraduate education didn't include much business analytics, I would suggest engaging in some online learning, perhaps through some MOOCs or other free or certificate programs offered by reputable outlets.
