Can auditors easily transfer to consulting industry after a few years auditing experience?

Any ideas about it? Cheers!

Not easily no!

As an auditor you learn a couple of skills that are very helpful when you work as a consultant:

- Balance sheet knowledge/Accounting knowledge

- Most firm structures (e.g. big 4 vs mbb etc) are very similar

- You might have had some first opportunity to dip your toe working in consultign projects if you work for big 4

etc.

However you lack some other things:

- Actual strategic knowledge/skillset

- Not sure about your hard skills, excel modeling, etc.

- Not sure about your client skills, presentation skills etc.

All of this could vary.

As an auditor you definitely dont have the worst chances. But it's also not super easy.

I suggest preparing well for the interviews, reading as much as you can about the consulting world AND ideally trying to do something at your current firm that resembles management consulting work.

Cheers
